Why isn't the search finding a visible word?
The page may be an image without recognized text, or use a structure that makes searching difficult. Try selecting a phrase and checking other pages. A reader does not automatically have a character recognition function for every open document.
Can a portable version read the same documents?
The portable option allows you to launch the program from a folder after extraction, without traditional installation. Check the chosen package and version. Portability does not guarantee access to files located elsewhere and does not replace their independent backup.
Can you modify a report simply by opening its PDF?
Reading and editing the source are two different tasks. To revise the text and layout of a report, preferably use the original document. Check the reader's specific functions separately instead of assuming it replaces a word processor.
